Summer is here, or soon approaching, and it's undoubtably the season of mix-tapes!
Thusly, I'm going to try my hardest to bring this community back to life. Of course I'll need help.

For starters, as soon as I find the password again, I'm going to make it so that all members can post.
Requests for mixes will still be accepted, and I will work my hardest to fulfill and post every one.
If anyone is decent with photoshop, and wants to create some kind of banner please contact me (joejennings@mac.com or AIM: Dearestmaylee) and send me some stuff. I'll post a banner in the info page, and I would really appreciate everyone's help promoting this community by posting that banner in journals, myspaces, other communities, etc.
I think a modest goal would be to have at least one post in this community a day, eventually!

So, without further delay, I present to you what should be part one of a (at least) 3 part installment..

OK, so it's been a while.. and nobody really ever updates. I should really just make this community open for everyone to update in- it's just that these things usually get filled up with the shittiest mixes on earth, and I'd like to avoid that when possible. I got very stuck on this mix, it took me a few months to complete. Quite the few of these are coversongs too. Here goes:

Billy Corgan - Always
Don Mclean - And I Love You So
Beck - True Love Will Find You In The End
Mojave 3 - In Love With A View
Sebadoh - Beautiful Friend
Onelinedrawing - Crush On Everyone
Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah
Ryan Adams - My Blue Manhattan
Rosebud - Beautiful Moment
Andrew Bird - I Can See Your House From Here
Rufus Wainwright - Peach Trees
Radiohead - Subterranean Homesick Alien
Nada Surf - Inside Of Love
Howie Beck - Serves You Right
Portastatic - Oh, Come Down
Creeper Lagoon - Wrecking Ball
The Mother Hips - Life In The City

COLOR MIX... this is hard to do and not use all the generic songs (White room, Brown Eyed Girl, Purple Haze, oh wait. i did use purple haze, DAMN)

1. Elton John- Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
2. Coldplay- Green Eyes
3. Ella Fitzgerald- Blue Skies
4. Joni Mitchell- Blue
5. Jimi Hendrix- Purple Haze
6. Weezer- Pink Triangle
7. Get Up Kids- Red Letter Day
8. Bright Eyes- Bowl of Oranges
9. Cream- A winter Shade of Pale (apparently Winter is now a color)
10. Simon and Garfunkle- Hazy Shade of Winter
11. Grateful Dead- Touch of Grey
12. Led Zeppelin- Black Dog
13. The Beatles- Blackbird
14. Judy Garland- Somewhere Over the Rainbow

hmm. I'm not entirely happy with this one. i feel liek i had to use songs just because they had the name of a color and not because they went with the flow. this may become a work in progress.

hey, we should figure out a way to be able to liek download these mixes from eachother.. somehow... i don't know.

I feel obligated to impart this mix onto you all because it's magic. I made it yesterday, and it was 38 degrees and rainy in a disgusting way. I make the mix and listen to it all day while writing papers and dreaming about summer. Lo and behold today its 60 degrees and sunny. It's magic I swear. I call it "Songs that can make you think it's summer when it's not."
1. "Wish You Were Here"- Pink Floyd
2. "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea"- Neutral Milk Hotel
3. "How Good It Can Be"- The 88
4. "Oceanside"- The Decemberists
5. "Loose Leaves"- Bright Eyes
6. "Box of Rain"- Grateful Dead
7. "Float On"- Modest Mouse
8. "Cabron"- Red Hot Chili Peppers
9. "What I Got"- Sublime
10. "Crazy Love"- Van Morrison
11. "Cinnamon Girl"- Neil Young
12. "The Joker"- Steve Miller Band
13. "Mr. Jones"- Counting Crows
14. "Megan"- The Smoking Popes
15. "Going To California"- Led Zeppelin
16. "The General"- Dispatch
17. "Pink Moon"- Nick Drake
18. "Summer in the City"- Lovin' Spoonful
19. "April, Come She Will"- Simon and Garfunkel
20. "Looking Back On Today (the acoustic version, it's better)- The Ataris

So, if you're missing summer it might work. Then again you might live in Alaska.

Oh, and I have a request. It's pretty simple, if you feel like doing it. A mix of the best of the British Invasion. (Not limited to bands of the 60s and 70s necessarily...just good stuff.)

Dead communities make me cry.
Anybody want to show me a mix for someone completely overwhelmed with stress?
Something that makes you feel OK but still keeps you up like coffee and speed.

Posting Access!
If I already told you I'd make you a mix-maker; i.e. jenny, princesscookie.. comment to this, and include your name. Sorry, but I totally just figured out how to do it.

If you'd LIKE posting access (if you would like to be a mix maker) leave a comment, and tell me if you already sent me a tracklist or not.

If You'd like to help me out.. start advertising this bad larry.. create some promo's, or just tell your friends.

This is going to take shape, right now. I'm working on a mix currently that I'll post shortly after.

Jenny L's Fall/Winter Mix
I've been slacking on this, because it's been pretty dead, however.. Jenny from Chicago sent me a killer mix.. So as of now there'll be two official mix makers.. Jenny and I! I thought I'd Post Jenny's mix to start it off, and to keep this thing moving nicely. Also, if you'd like to find some good breakbeat, techno, or remixed songs.. there's a list in the comments of the previous post! Hope you enjoy! Here's Jenny:

Fall/Winter Mix: These aren't really songs that describe Fall and Winter as much as they are songs that express how Fall and Winter make me feel. I think this would be a good CD for driving down streets covered with dry leaves colored yellow and red and orange.

2. Etta James- At Last
3. Jack Johnson- The News
4. Radiohead- Karma Police
5. Sarah McLachlan- Blackbird (I know this is origanally by the Beatles, who i already have on this CD, but I hope it's okay because it's sung by a different artist.)

"Jazz Mix"
Note: These ones don't have 'title format' names because I made these for people before I made this community. I'm just putting these up because there are no submissions yet.

I made this mix, "Jazz Mix" for a girl I used to spend time with. It seems like a lot of people would like jazz if they knew the songs better. And I thought about trying to put together fresh renditions of classic songs that people may have heard of, even if they haven't exactly heard them.

The General Concept, and a first mix: "Indie-Folk for Ette"
Hello Everyone/Anyone, and welcome. My name is Joe Jennings, and I created this community for the sake of those with an open mind/ear. For about a year now I've been keeping close track of the mix-cds that I've created for people, because it's one of the few things I feel confident that I'm good at. I'd like to overview a few small things before it gets underway.. The reason posting access has to be granted for mix makers is because I would like to not go the way of Tiny Mix Tapes.. who's mixes have begun to lower in value. (but in all fairness, I love them, obviously, or I wouldn't be mirroring their idea). As for tracklisting.. for now, "Artist - Songtitle" is the idea; though if people would prefer it may be changed to add the Album it is found on. As this is a new community, there are no submissions currently.. so I would like to get that going fast! And for now, I will start off with a mix I have made.
Note: for the sake of those looking for the mix they'd wanted, or browsing the archive.. I would like all of the subjects of the entries to either be the title of the mix being included.. or a specific sentence that would overview whatever topic is being discussed. Thank you!

So finally.. This mix, entitled, "Indie-Folk for Ette" I created for my two bandmates, to inspire them and help them understand where I was drawing my inspiration for our band, Ette. It was probably half a year ago by now.
